The job role

Rochford District Council is looking for an enthusiastic and compassionate individual to fulfil the role of Cemetery Operative. The successful candidate will join our existing Open Space, Woodlands and Cemeteries team in undertaking our duties to provide high quality services to our residents.

The ideal candidate will hold a full driving licence, Cemetery Operative Training Scheme 1 and 2 certification, Use of Mini Diggers and Dumpers and PA1/PA6 Spraying certification.

The key duties of the post are undertaking internments within the Council owned cemeteries in all weather conditions, undertaking maintenance of tools, shoring and plant and also undertaking the grounds maintenance of the Council owned cemeteries. 

This post is assigned as a Career Matrix role, and the successful candidate will be able to achieve accelerated pay progression on the successful completion of defined tasks along with technical and professional development, and an assessment of competencies and behaviours.
