Our culture and values

We like our staff to be proactive and innovative. Being customer focused and willing to maximise your potential at work are expected. We all work together to achieve the very best for our residents which sometimes means getting involved in projects and trying new tasks outside of your day-to-day job role. We love our staff to suggest new ideas and to have enthusiasm to try out new experiences.

The job role

Rochford District Council is looking to appoint a proactive individual to take on the challenging role of Country Park Ranger.

This is an exciting opportunity for a positive and enthusiastic individual to join our dedicated and hardworking Open Spaces Team. We are looking for versatility, self-motivation and a keen interest in the great outdoors.

As a Country Park Ranger, you will be tasked with maintaining the pride in our District, in ensuring that the highest quality of visual amenity value is achieved for our residents and stakeholders. You will support the transformation of the district’s green spaces and provide a visible and approachable site presence/point of contact for the local community, visitors and other service users. You will develop, promote and deliver a creative and imaginative programme of community focused activities, including environmental education, nature conservation, community engagement and volunteering. Be a champion for our parks and open spaces and the ‘friendly face’ of the Council and the Open Spaces team.

The role will involve the operation of tractors, front-loaders, tractor operated machinery and the use of other relevant plant machinery and supporting the work of the wider Open Spaces team.

It is essential for a successful candidate to be able to undertake physical and demanding work in all weathers, of all seasons. Work within the Open Spaces Team can be challenging, however; this is outweighed by the sense of pride and the self-rewarding nature of working as a part of a team within the horticultural industry.

Customer Focus is very important to us, and we would expect any successful candidate to act in the upmost professional of manner.
