The job role

The Transportation Department is looking for an enthusiastic member of staff to join their team based at the Council Offices in Rayleigh.  The post is for a part-time Civil Enforcement Officer (Parking Attendant).

The successful candidate will work 25 hours per week on a shift rota; starting at either 08:00 or 09:00 and finishing between 13:00 and 14:00, including Saturdays.  Flexibility is required as shifts can change at short notice in order to cover absence and holidays.

Duties will include patrolling the Council’s pay and display car parks, issuing Penalty Charge Notices, maintenance & repairs of the pay and display machines, cash collections from the machines and post runs to Rochford.

Applicants must be able to undertake a considerable amount of walking.  They must be able to lift heavy cash boxes and be willing to undertake other duties like cleaning signage in the car parks. Mechanical dexterity is also a requirement for dealing with ticket machine faults.

Applicants are required to be trustworthy, have good communication skills and a positive attitude towards customer care. It is essential they hold a full driving licence and are flexible with regards to working hours.
